Tell him I sent you. He will make anything you want for the T/C. He was the first one to make 45/70 barrels for them and has about 30 different wildcats and all the fixins for the ammo, too.
You are correct! Personally I dont like the contender or encore, and I certainly dont like the 300 whisper or its counterparts, and SSK for that matter(particularly the man behind the desk). I dont doubt their accuracy I have seen many people at the range shooting very tiny groups with them, and a friend of my dads owns one, who proudly hangs his groups in his gun room. That said, I could give them credit for being accurate, but this would never make up for my other personal resons for disliking.

I went to the SSK site, and they cost about $100 more than a regular barrell. The reasons I'm interested in one are 1) I think it would make a good range gun with a wide variety of bullets, and 2) with its 1.4" case length it should be legal for Illinois deer hunting. I'm going to check that to be sure before I plunk down the money.
Well Smallfry, after my defense of my Encore in .257 Roberts, 7 MM Bench Rest, and .308 Win. which I dearly love, I do have to remember that that XP-100 will shoot smaller groups. Because of the bolt's camming action it can stand reloads that have been just neck sized and higher pressures. I just happen to like the Encore better. I am sure this is just personel preference. Slim
