have an old Redhawk 5 1/2" (1984) and thinking of a scope. Old eyes. Are there mounts that do not have to be drilled or rear sight removed.

Ruger used to offer a barrel change on this model of Redhawk with integral scope mounts on the barrel. I don't know if they still offer this service or how much it costs; you could contact them to find out.

Weaver offers a no drill mount for the redhawk, but it leaves a mark on the frame. The one I used for awhile seemed to hold zero very well.

As of 18 months ago Ruger still offered the service. I'm very happy with the conversion.
