What are your opinons on the 10 mm on northern whitetail? What do you think of it in relation to the 41 mag and the 357 mag? Thanks.

I have not hunted with any of them, but I returned from the range last week, after chronographing my most accurate 10mm loads. They came in at 1120 fps (av) with a 200 grain JFP. Not max. I don't believe, but accurate and powerful IMHO. The real question is what can you hit with it? Given a choice I would use a 44 mag or a 45Colt loaded with 300 gr. hard cast bullets and a healthy dose of H110. Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. I love the 10mm. I think it fits in pretty much between the .357 and the .41 mag -- IMHO. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"

Well, I would go for the heart lung, but the deer in southern Michigan are big, the land lots are small and people are not the most friendly about tracking on their side of the fence. The good news is I find it very pleasent and accurate to shoot. I've used 357 Mag and don't find it optimal (but adiquate up close). Maybe I will jump up to a 44 (can always use a new gun!) but I'm intersted in what my new toy is capable of. It really is a joy on the range. It's a 610 revolver BTW.

Makemine...I was not challenging you. I was going to add that northern whitetails can get pretty big, and if now you add that people get pretty up tight about fences, to me that makes a handgun marginal. Your 610 should be plenty accurate, but I am not sure about heavy loads though. I shoot an EAA Witness Elite with a heavy spring. Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. I see the 41 mag as a whole different animal than the 10mm. I loaded mine with a 293 grain hardcast at 1275. The current load I use in a 41 is a 250 grain at 1250. That being said I do think a 10MM would do quite well on deer. I have never shot a deer with a 10mm but I have shot them with .41 and .44 mag, 454 casull and 9mm luger. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

I know of at least one outdoor "talking head" who uses a 10MM Glock to hunt hogs. My go to has always been the .41RemMag but if you can manage to keep the range down to reasonable (in my case 30 or less yards from day 1) I don't see why a 200g bullet at 1100+fps. won't kill one. I think your biggest problem is to kill one RDRQ and unless you can break down both sides of the front end or head shoot it that may not be a possibility Love Those .41s'

Not much into head shots but I have learned to like the high shoulder shots when I'm close to the fence. It works really well with a 12 ga slug (no rifles here). I'm not sure 200 gr at 1100ish is up to that though. On the other hand I would not try it with my 357 at 20 ft even with a 180!

FWIW we switched to 10mm from .357 Mag several years ago (I work for a Sheriff's Office in a county with three Interstate highways and a "Corridor", we shoot alot of deer). Road injured deer shrugged off .357 rounds but toppled over when we hit them with the Silvertip or a 180gr XTP @1,200fps load we were issued for a while. I'd say the 10mm was much better than the .357 and really not that far behind my .44 Mag with Midrange loads. But that's just my humble opine.
