I just today purchased one of the new Ruger SBH Hunter in .41RemMag, should have it by the end of the week. Need names and URL of "smith" to send it to to be "slicked" up and tweeked. Know a bunch of Contender guys but need a few Ruger wheel gun guys. If you have had your Ruger wheel gun done let me know and tell me what you think.
Thanks lots,
Pete

Mag-Na-Port comes to mind, as does SSK. Both can do a real slick up job for you. Google for the url.

I can recommend Dave Clements at www.clementscustomguns.com. He does great work and has treated two of my Rugers to his magic. Both received trigger/action work, new sights, etc and one was rechambered/rebored. Send him an e-mail with your wants and he'll give you a quote...Good Shooting and have fun with that new toy...RW

Ravenwolf, There is a Clements worked S/W 657 in my safe. Sad to say it doesn't belong to me. Santa put it under the tree for my 15 year old granddaughter. I got it from a argichemical supplier and just knew it had to be hers. Nice work all around.
Just so everyone will know the .41Hunter is being sent to Gary Reeder to be the first of his as yet released Ultimate .41Hunter. Gary says he is going to make me famous and Kelly Brost (CBPT)told me to "be afraid". Can hardly wait. This is almost as fun as a new puppy. [Wink] [Big Grin]

RJM,
I'll assume you are asking about the Ruger .41RemMag Hunter. I didn't know about it until about two weeks ago. I saw a post on Graybeard's by a poster who said he had gotten one from a local dealer. I contacted my local dealer and they contacted Davidson's to request two. On Friday a poster here, I think, posted that they had purchesed one on gunbroker.com so I went looking and found a gunbroker dealer in NM who had one listed. Got it. Then I posted this thread looking for someone to "slick" it up when I got it. From what I understand Ruger is only going to run 843 of these and they are all going to Davidson for distrubition to dealers. The way things are now mine will never be shot as a .41RemMag. I plan to send it to Gary as soon as I receive it. As for Gary's Ultimate .41Hunter I just happen to be reading some stuff on his site and he mentioned he was working on a new series that uses the Ruger .41Hunter as the platform and I took that and ran with it. Still Crawfish, sorry I didn't get the PM. You lucky guy you. The chance to have the first of Gary's Ultimte 41 series. This will be a gun to cherish and to use. Gary's first rate in my book and has great customer satisfaction. He built me a 45 LC Hunter with his Trailrider grip frame, 5-shot cylinder, minimal engraving and a buttery smooth action. When I first shot my 45LC Hunter with heavy loads the imitation ivory grip panel broke - I called Gary and sent him my grip frame where he fitted the SA with new Cherry Laminated grips and got the gun back to me in about a week. Can't ask for better than that. Him and Dave Clements are first rate...Good Shooting...RW

Thanks Mr. Crawfish, I will see if I can find one around. What is the asking price? As to the Ultimate .41 Hunter, my 5.5" Reeder custon is already named that. It looks just like the Long Colt Hunter on his web site.

I highly recommend Andy Horvath in Ohio. He does great work and has fast turn around. Don't have his number handy, but I can get it for you if you would like.

HI,

I also say Dave Clements, I just got my 500 Linebaugh in from him yesterday, it is on a single action bisley. It is beautiful, his work is so good I don't even want to put finger smuges on it. Thanks,Kev

Thanks for all the names of good gun guys. Just to up on the Reeder converstion. Had a family accident the day I was to ship to Gary, granddaugher, soccer game, elbow in mouth, that will be $4800.00 please. I have had to cut way back on what I will be able to put into the .41Hunter if I do it now. I have never been one to do a half assed job so I guess I'll just wait for the warchest to build back so I can send it to Gray at a later time. Really wanted to be the first of a new Reeder series but such is life.

Sorry to here about your daughter. As a father of two girls and a softball coach to boot I know how scary this can be to both the child and the parent. Hope she is doing well, and you can always save up again for that custom gun later. Take care...RW

Crawfish, sorry about your grand daughter. I hope every thing will be ok. My first grand baby that I e-mailed you about is almost 5 months old now. Man, grand babies are quite the thing. They really are your reward for not killing your kids.

God Bless

BTY Amber is doing much better had a checkup yesterday and the Orthodontist said her top teeth had good blood flow and are almost re-attached, bottom teeth are doing fine too. She is glad that she doesn't look like a racoon anymore (she had both eyes balckend buy the hit din't brake her nose thank God). Her mouth isn't wired shut anymore and she only has to have a splint in, with none of the same kinds of food as when she had her braces.
