I just purchased a scope for my ruger blackhawk hunter. When I put the scope in the rings the front scope objective touches the front sight causing the scope to sit at an angle rather than flush in the rings. What is the proper way to remove the front sight?

Best case scenario, remove the screws holding it on <GRIN>, or slide the scope back enough for it to clear, or go to higher rings. Worst case scenario, take it to someone to have the sight removed (soldered on sight). Sorry I can't be of more help, but that's about it for options. Only other thing that I can think of, is to send it back to Ruger, and request to have a screw-on front sight installed. It would take some time, but they might do it for free. Worth a phone call, anyway.Telephone: 603-865-2442 Fax: 603-863-6165 >>>>>>>Bug.

There isn't a screw as far as I know. You'll see a hole in the front of the front sight base. There is a spring loaded retaining button in that hole. Take a punch or other small object and push the button in while lifting up on the front sight. This usually takes quite a bit of effort in depressing the retaining pin.
