My wife got to shoot her new .44 Ruger black hawk hunter. I got a kick out of watching her blow holes in paper with full power loads. She even let me play with it, hats off to the design, it is a pleasant bugger to shoot... John

I bought one and loved it. Trouble was, I had the hots for the BFR .475 and sold the Ruger. Fixed income hurts. There is a strange thing about women. I used to alternate heavy loads and light loads in the cylinder for my wife. Her only statement was that some of those were louder then the others. I don't think she even noticed the additional recoil. My wife hasn't shot in years and I envy you.

bfrshooter, was the bfr what you expected it to be? I am thinking about 1 in 475.

Yes it was. It seems as if it is the only gun I shoot most of the time. I have taken several deer with it. It is very accurate. I have made several boolit moulds for it and I just shot 5 shots into 5/8" at 50 yd's. The Lee 400 gr boolit is extremely accurate and will shoot under an inch at 50 yd's. I use 26.5 gr's of 296 with the Lee and 26 with my boolits. 15 gr's of HS-6 is a great load also. I use an Ultra Dot on it. I have destroyed some scopes and cheap red dots on it but the Ultra Dot is tough. I also have the BFR 45-70 and it is great too. These are two guns I will never part with. I outshoot two of my friends Freedom guns every time. One is a .454 and the other a .475. The BFR's are easy to load for and will take any length boolit. The Freedom's cylinder is too short for a lot of boolits. Freedoms twist is also too slow for heavy boolits. I have nothing but good things to say about the BFR's.
