Spoke with TBEAR yesterday afternoon -- he was in Main, checking the zero of his .475! His first day of hunting is today. I will post up if I hear anything.

He is hunting with Pete Koch of Wild Country Outfitters in Wade Maine.
http://www.mainewildcountryoutfitters.com/index.html

I just got back from there myself. Long story seen two hugh 400 plus black bear and ended up shooting a 130 lb boar.
Ended up using my 45-70 and gave up on the bow.

well just got home 12c hr drive.Got to see 3 or 4 bears total.First a cub came in checked the trail and decided to walk away. Then the sow and cub came in.What a blast watching a little cub probally 30 lbs moving the rocks and logs they were their about 15 to 20 minutes 15 yards away.To bad camera was just out of reach and didn't want to spook them.Wed we where at a blind packing up while pete the guide heard a noise and pointed his light toward bait to see a 200+ bear.Unfortunitle the cold front gave the reverse affect from normally and put the bears going nocternal. The guides felt extremely bad but that is part of hunting out of anyones control.i got some pics of the sites and some coons stealing the bait i will post later or tomorow.Alex not sure if i can make it next year but if i do i will cordinate with you and pete.He already said if we make it up together he is sending us to the range to shoot knowing we will want to keep shooting

was planning on using my 475 but i just changed to a lighter load 420 gr 950fps for hunt printed great at home but when i got there.Had a little trouble getting to group proper. So the decision was made to just hunt with my redhawk 41 mag using 240 gr platnium tips.which grouped great

This hunt was what the doctor ordered i was about a stressed out as a person could be.I think that is why i couldn't group the 475 i will check it sometime this week and as marko suggested just go back to my reg loads and stick with them

The fact the guide makes sure you can hit target says alot.

TBEAR99, Yes I am going back the first week next year. I booked already, and will be sending my deposit to Pete in the next week or so.

Yes Pete always checks out the shooters before the hunt, no matter how much they shoot before hand. I like to shoot before the hunt just to make sure my guns are still on target.

Next year I will be using my Muzzleloader, with a handgun back up, either my 475 Linebaugh with 400 gr. hard cast, or my 45-70 BFR with 405 gr. Hard cast.

I think you are on to something, stick with the heavier bullets and shoot the hell out of the 475 Linebaugh this year and next year. I put thousands of rounds down my handguns every year. No such thing as to much practice.

Hope to see you next year.

ok here are some pics sorry no bears or moose but caught the 3 bandits stealing the bait. The bait is only 15 yards from your blind so yes you are up close and personal with the bears one of the hunters that hunted while alex was their stated that the bear came up sniffed him and then he heard the bear piss right behind him

this is the site i saw the cubs and sow

If you came back from your hunt relaxed, then it was a success. That's hunting.......

Glad you had a good time nonetheless.
