Does anyone here have any information on the Lew Horton S&W M29s? I bought this one back in '91, and would like to know some particulatrs about it -- like how many were produced, etc. It's one of my favorite pieces. It shoots really well, but produces a serious fireball in reduced light! Hell, you don't even have to hit your target as you will powder burn them, blind'em, and deafen them with one pull of the trigger! Thanks in advance.

Nice gun!!!!

You've got to love a 3" 44 at night, especially with 110 or 296.

The Lew Horton guns were made in fairly small quantities, runs of 500 or 1000 or so. Maybe somebody with a SCSW can help out with better info.

My SCSW shows a listing for the Lew Horton Special 29-3 in 1985, and shows only 200 manufactured...

Hope this helps.

Doubless -- so was '85 the only year of manufacture? Can anyone confirm this?

They did the blued 629 3"s in 1985 and the stainless in '86. I have the latter as well as the 3" 657 from '87. They definitely produced more stainless versions than the blued counterpart.

Sorry, Whitworth. I hadn't re-visited the thread in several days, so didn't see the question. My apologies, glad you got the answer.

So I guess I have a fairly collectible piece. I would never sell it as it shoots beautifully -- despite the ten-foot flame front!
