I can get my hands on a resonably priced single action revolver made by Sauer, or possibly by J.P. Sauer & Sohn. But I don't know if the gun is a faithful clone of Colt SAA as I am more interested in a Colt clone and want to be able to find replacement parts just in case. If the gun isn't an exact copy of SAA then what are the differences? Thanks for your input of knowledge.

I have a J.P. Saur & Son's 357. It is not a colt clone. It does not point and balance as well as a Ruger or Seville. Mine seems to be fairly accurate and I took a deer with it last year at around 80yds. One shot and it went about 40 yds. It appears to be a fairly well made gun and was definately worth the $ 125 I paid for it. If you can get a good deal on it, then buy it, but don't expect it to be a colt. I'd buy another one given the chance.

While the Sauer is not a Colt clone (with changes to the action, frame size and grip shape), they are usually accurate, very reliable and easily tuned for a field piece. While possibly not quite as strong as the Ruger, the large frames were offered in 44mg and are a good bit stronger than the clones.
