O.K. guys I found out I can't buy a Taurus here because Taurus won't comply with Maryland's dumb-ass req. that the state police get a fired casing from the manufacturer for every handgun. Roll Eyes Sooo, I'm thinking it's either the scandium S&W in .41 or .44 mag. I think I want the .41 because in a 27.5 oz. gun the recoil will be more managable...after I add a good recoil absorbing grip, maybe one with a laser red dot thingy. What do you guys think? .41 O.K? What grip do you recommend? Would you get it ported?

B.T.W. the head of the MD state police said publically that saving all those cases and creating an expensive mountain of paper work has never help solve a single crime. homer

Both are going to sting like a cracked bat so you might as well strike a harder and wider blow. As for lasers I'd rather train with the hi-viz irons than assume the laser pointer will always work the first time and every time I need it.

The 41 or 44 are so close I would get whichever one you want.

If you want a taurus get one. Don't you have friends in other states.

Glad I don't live there!!!!!!!!

I myself like the 329. That is what I carry while hog hunting.
But around here during archery season a hunter is not allowed to carry any firearm except a 22lr with rat shot #12 in it.

Ignore your rights and they will go away!

Virginia's concealed carry laws are among the nation's most enlightened. The game law even includes a specific statement that acknowlages a concealed carry permit holder's right to carry a pistol. Now if Virginia's game law would change to allow Sunday hunting hunters could do more to reduce the states plague of whitetail!

In much of Maryland you can kill as many antlerless deer as you want seven days a week
on private land. You can just keep buying bonus tags. If I only had permission to hunt any private land in Eastern Maryland. Last month on the Maryland Outdoors TV show they were talking about the collapse of the butterfly populations in parts of the state due to whitetail over browsing the tops of the broadleaf weeds where the butterflys lay their eggs. If only Disney artists had drawn Bambi as a butterfly! homer

My dad has the .44 mag and it's a "mule kicker" but with a glove and a rubber grip it's not to bad. I don't have any expereince with the .41 so I can't comment. Personally I'd buy the .44, it's just cooler. Wink

I own a M357PD .41 Magnum and have shot two of my friends M329PDs and I can tell you there is a big difference in recoil.

Have shot several different factory loads in the M357 and while snappy they don't recoil that far off the target that a quick second shot can't be made. The M329 I shot with full load 240 grain loads jerked the gun right over the target for both me and another experienced DA shooter who was a lot stronger than I am and a quick accurate second shot could not be made.

There is one great load for the M329 and that is the Speer 200 grain Gold Dot HP Short Barrel Load. They use the very deep 200 grain GDHP used in the .44 Special load and jack it up to 1080 from a 4". I have not shot any from an Airlite but have from a Mountain Gun and it was very pleasant and accurate...and should expand like no tomorrow.

As to which grip, they come with wood and rubber...just leave the wood ones in the box..they hurt to shoot even with target loads. From what I usedstand the M500 grips fit the N-frame RB guns...I plan on seeing if the ones on my 4" M500 will fit the M327 and how the recoil feels..

As to porting...call Mag-Na-Port to see if it can be done...being a shrouded barrel I'm not sure...

As a back up, I would look at a 4" Ruger GP100 in .357. They are nice and shoot well.

The frame on a .357 is much smaller and makes it lighter and easier to carry. The largest caliber revolver in the world does you no good if it is too aggravating to carry.

I took my first deer of this season with a .357 this weekend and though people criticize it, it way-laid the deer I shot with it.
