Don't really understand what you are describing as "shock" but not recoil. I shoot some big handguns nothing smaller than.41RemMag and as large as .411JDJ (.41 on a full size necked .444Marlin) have a .41 wildcat based on the .445Super. I have most of my handguns ported. Mag-na-Port works well to reduce recoil. The Reeder Custom Guns break works well also. I use shooting gloves, breaks, and recoil absorbing grips to tame them a bit. I like the Ribber (Ribber is what Taurus calls them) grips that Taurus has on their heavy hitters. I dont think you can buy those as aftermarket though. Hogue makes a soft rubber mono-grip for your DW. I have some on a S/W 29 that work pretty well. I have a set of Pachmayr grips on the .411JDJ but they dont list any grips for any DW guns. I used to have a DW 4i46 I think or maybe 4416 a 6-inch .414Super and it came ported with a real nice set of recoil absorbing grips but that was before the new DWs showed up. Maybe DW has some other grips as aftermarket a call to them wouldnt hurt.

I think I know what you're saying. I shoot a Contender in 35 Rem that has a lot of recoil, but it is like a big push. My Mod 29 S&W 44 mag however hits my hand with a sharp smack. The actual recoil is nowhere near as much as the 35 but it feels a lot worse. The only cure I've found is to change designs of guns to, say, a single action of the same caliber. The grip design on a single action allows the gun to rotate in your hand instead of delivering the whole punch directly to your palm.

ALL good posts. THANK YOU. Just an update of what I tried..... again the problem was not recoil of the wrist flipping kind that I was bothered by, but the shock or bone vibration kind of feeling. My hands are really large and I found that by wrapping the grip with several layers of padded tape (ala tennis racket) that it felt a lot more 'home' in my hands and the shock was greatly diminshed. I may try those gel-gloves too but for now I'm getting quite used to it. I shot 50 rounds yesterday doing load development with 300gr Sierras and found 3/4 loads grouped best and didnt have primer cratering that loads above had. Loaded 50 more last night. Thank to all that posted.

Going to update my own thread here as I think its worth passing on. I wound up trying something that REALLY worked well. I bought a roll of thin padded wrap thats used for tennis racket handles at Academy made by Wilson. Stretching it as I wrapped in an overwrap pattern (same as a tennis racket really) it was the perfect length to do my whole grip (what are the odds) My hands are very large and it made the grip mcuh nicer in the hands. The difference while shooting however is huge. Same recoil but NO SHOCK. Recoil never was a bother just that shock/vibration aspect of it. Thanks to all who posted

Go to the local drug store and ask to look at the splints for carpel-tunnel mine is made by Ace.It has a metal brace that supports the back of the wrist and hand and some pading.I thought I was going to have to stop shooting all hand guns because of a wore out joint and arthrits.I use a past recoil glove and one of these Ace braces and it works great for me. Make sure and carry your past glove with you because the brace will need to be a little larger to fit over the glove...I was so satisfied with this system I now have two 500 S&W's Let me know how it works for you... < !--color-->
