I just ordered a S&W 500 from there Performance Cener. It has the 6 1/2 barrel and compensator.
Galco makes a really sweet holster that holds the revolver across the chest. Unfortunately they will not make me one in left hand.
Can anyone here recommend a custom holster company?

Check out El Paso Saddlery if you want leather. I believe all their holsters are available in left-hand. I have three LH belt holsters, though none for the shoulder. One holster did take a long time to make when I requested a non-standard option, but the other two were delivered within the 4 to 6 week turnaround time. The holsters are all very high quality and worth the wait IMHO.

I am right handed and carry a Taurus Raging Bull 454 8". I use a nylon hip holster and a wide belt (3" I think) with a heavy duty pair of suspenders like the carpenters use on the job. I put the holster on the belt the suspenders on the belt put the whole rig around my waist and over my shoulders. It distributes the weight so it is not too much on my hips or waist. I usually carry it cross draw on my left side with the grip facing forward. I got a nice deer with it a couple of years ago and considering my dad gave me the suspenders and belt and I already had a nylon holster the cost was nothing.

You might consider this type of system if you’re concerned about the weight of this beast.

Interesting concept. Buy a regular belt holster and belt. Wear the belt about mid torso and hold it in postion with suspenders. The you can punch a small hole through the bottom of the holster and tie it to your belt around your waist to keep it from flopping around. I like the idea!

I had El Paso Saddlery make up their 1942 Tanker shoulder holster for my Dan Wesson .44. Materials and workmanship are as good as it gets.

The exact concept you describe is available through RINGLER Leather in wyoming. Unsure if he has a site though I think he is the supplier for the leather that Freedom Arms sell.

Smith & Wesson sells a Leather lefthanded one that was made for it, pricey though.

I'm lefthanded and I have the same gun I choose
the Smith & Wesson Ballistic Nylon version one
cost was the primary reason. It's made for the 8 3/8 factory gun but my 6 1/2 works just fine
in it.

Have you looked at http://www.pistolpackaging.com? It's a bandalero type rig. I have one and like it. It eliminates pants drag and is very comfortable to carry. Beats a shoulder rig as well but your gun is located in the same place. Ive also had other holsters made to work with specific guns and just had the back part done with snaps so it fits on the shoulder part.

What I have is a contender Hosler. I bought it for my big bore contender barrels. It will hold any big boar handgun. I use the belt loops on the back of it.

He can make whatever size you need and cheap.

I added a floral sculpted finish and added a cartridge holder on the front strap. Served me well for years. This setup is very adaptable to winter or warmer hunting clothing scenarios.
