p dog shooterIt is a lot of handgun.
I don't shoot or load mine to full power.

Brandon.GleasonI've one with the 5" barrel and it's nearly intolerable to shoot with full power loads. I say that not from a recoil standpoint, but rather a muzzle blast standpoint. I recall someone making a replacement for the removable muzzle brake in a solid form, just cant seem to find it.
Mine will probably end up being someone else's bargain some day.

CCMDocI think you’re gonna love it.
Recoil and muzzle blast are impressive but here’s my strategy for a fun trip to the range
20 rounds of full-bore 500 S&W out of 6” barrel
20 rounds of full-bore 460 S&W out of a 5” barrel
Then 50 to 100 of 45 Colt out of the 460 - you’ll be laughing your butt off and wondering if they’re squibs but they’re good for staying concentrated on good technique.
I ran through all of my 454 Casull and recoil was a pussycat in the 460.
Then I usually bring a 44 w 44 Mag and Specials or 357 with both mags and 38 specials.

dgr416I have two Ruger super redhawk in 454 .I can shoot it
Around 60 times with full power 300 grain ammo at 1800 fps .It was my Alaska life insurance policy for
12 years .I have a ton of 454 ammo left and still have my 454s.I had the first 454 redhawks in alaska and a guy wanted both of them .He took out two golddust bags 8 ozs .It was only 258 an oz then i almost traded but i made a new holster and toted them all over the place 12 years in Alaska.I could hit a stump 5 times at 100 to 150 yards with all 6 shots fairly quick .I will work up on this pistol .I do want a scope on it .I hate reddots i cant see the redots plus i see lots of paralax in them.Hopefully i can shoot this 460 just as good as the 454 .

WV HitmanRemember, shooting any rounds less than .460 in your .460 will build up lead/copper at the end of the case in the cylinder. Shooting a lot of these lesser rounds CAN lead to increased pressure in the cylinder & a POSSIBLE cylinder rupture. Be sure and clean the cylinder well after shooting those lesser rounds.
When the .460 came out I asked my best friend and maker of all my single shot guns, JD Jones of SSK, if I needed one over my FA .454. He said the only advantage of the .460 is with heavier bullets on really big game. I never bought one. For really big game, like the rhino I killed, I use my FA .475 Linebaugh.

jeffeossomy ego says "do it"
my carpal tunnel says "yeah, bro, do that...heh"
I recall a day Harry and I were shooting his 500 linebaugh (sp) .. we shot a BUNCH, and afterwards there was this numbness and tingling ..
i love my mild 45 colt loads, tyvm

p dog shooterThe only reason I have mine is I got a great deal on it. With Dies, brass, and loaded ammo.
I only keep it to impress others. Might use it on my next bear hunt
