Anyone got a good safe load for a 44 Automag that can be used effectively on Russian boar up to about 350lbs? My Wildey has an 8" bbl.

I have AMs but not the Wildey. I'd contact Wildey and inquire if they have a load for it or recommend one. I know they chamber the gun for it but I don't know if they have ammo.

At any rate, there is Cor-Bon. It's 240 gr @ 1450 and is considered a stiff load for the rare 1970s original AM. I can't vouch for it in the Wildey, but I'd ask them about it.

I can't recommend any of the old AM commercial loads that still may be around. The original CDM loads were widely considered to be underpowered.

There are folks there who have owned and shot Wildeys.

My guess is some experimentation will be necessary. Sorry I can't help more. If it was the original AM rather than the Wildey there'd be some other ideas I could offer.

Personally I would want to use something heavier than 240 grains on a 350-lb hog. At that size they are really tough and should have a pretty thick gristle plate.........Shack's right, I think you should contact Wildey.

Thanks guys. I will call Wildey for some specific loading info and will ask about barrel makers. The barrel does look kinda complicated to be sure.
