The 454 Casull can be loaded using Dillon 45LC dies according to Dillon Precision, but the 460 I don't know.

Well guys, i found a set of reloading dies at midway.. These require the use of a case lube. Only 2 sets in stock. I will wait for a better set. Hate case lube on pistol brass.

Bob,
Don't know if it will be the same for the 460 but I have the RCBS carbide dies for the 500 and they recommend lubing ecery tenth case just due to the size. Maybe that will be a tough one to get away from. I am looking forward to hearing some reports on the 460 as I have the 500 and absolutely love it.

I shot the 500 s & w today at the range. It's loud, recoil was less than expected. A guy had one and let me shoot it. 400 gr. jfp bullet. I hope to get my 460 by fall so i can use it this deer season. Also, going to southern Georgia again this winter to hunt wild hogs. Plan to use the 460 s&w only. Will leave the big cannons at home. I like the spec's on the Hornady 200 gr. sst..

You might search the new Graf & Sons catalog. I notice that they are carrying Hornady .460 dies -- steel, not carbide. Didn't look for bullets or brass. I think that even with carbide dies you'll have to lube a little. When I'm resizing .500 cases I still need a bit of Imperial Sizing Wax -- there's a lot of surface area being forced into the die.

I noticed that the new Graf & Son catalog lists Hornady steel dies (not carbide) for the .460. Didn't look around for bullets or brass.

You can use the 454 casul carbide dies from RCBS and just call them and have them to send you a barnes seater plug for the 460, thats what I use for my 5 inch.

Just last week I got carbide 460 S&W Magnum RCBS dies, Starline brass and a couple types of bullets from Midway. The Hodgdon web site gives a number of loads for this round.

I have a 460 S&W Mag. barrel ordered from TCs custom shop. When it gets here, I'll be ready to go.

I bought 4 boxes of Hornady and have been re using the brass, I have been using the Nosler Partition HG's in 260 Grain hollow point and the 300 grain, no data from Nosler but is supposed to be out in the new book in a couple of months. So have been trying generic loads.

I have been shooting a 460 Mag now for almost a year. I have three 460 Mags right now and just ordered a 5 inch 460 Mag. I have reloaded for the 460 Mags as soon as the load data and supplies were available. I don't like the 200 gr. Hornady loads myself. I have been reloading 240 gr. Hornady XTP's, 260 Nosler Partitions and Range Ricks 300 grain cast bullets. The 460 Mag is just an awesome round. Big Grin

How did your test firing go with the 460 encore barrel? Reason I'm asking I have an encore bullberry 20 in that was a 454 casull rechambered to 460.

Hi Redhawk1:

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for your new 5 in. S&W 460?

I tested this barrel over the 4th of July. Groups very good. Recoil was bad. I had this barrel mated to a tc encore pistol frame. It's a little more than expected in the recoil area. Plan to purchase a rifle frame and use this barrel on it.
