The Burris is a fine scope. I have a 3x-12x on my S&W 460 and I've had no problems with it. I have Leupolds mounted on my S&W 500's and they've also been flawless. Don't know about the dots.

I use Leupold 2X scopes, Bushnell 2x6x32 and Ultra-dot Match-dot red dots on my hunting handguns.
The gun and scope configuration depends on my intended shooting to be done. If I am hunting in an area where long shots are possible over 100 yards, I use my S&W 460 mag with the Bushnell 2X6X32, it works for up close also, but if I am in thick cover and or after black bear up close, I use my 500 Mag with a Ultra-dot Match dot and my shots are usually under 75 yards. I use my BFR in 45-70 with a 2X Leupold for under 100 yards shots as well.

So you have to look at what application fits your hunting needs. Any of the above scopes and red dot will work on you 454 Casull.

If you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.
