I think it's the most gorgeous revolver in the world! Then again I don't like the look of Single-actions (especially Freedom Arms)and don't have any experience so......I'll just shut up now.

One of the things that I like best about these boards is that we all have such varied opinions. But rarely is there any arguing, just disagreement,...two completely different things. I personally don't like the feel of a big single action, but they sure are pretty. Plus I like the H&K USP in .45 better than the 1911s. Slim
Mine is beautiful. All but the sights, pins, screws, and hammer are black teflon. As I get scratches and wear marks I will use gray and green teflon to repair. The 9.5" barrel does drag the ground going down a mountain though. Pak

I am in the process of buying a very nice looking Ruger Super Redhawk .44Mag (7.5inch) revolver at the moment. Its a damn sexy gun. Clint Eastwood - eat your heart out!!!!
I see what ur talki'n about Pilgrim! (nah thats that other dude John Wayne right?).
Ahh...but Clint Eastwood just wished that the Ruger Super Redhawk was around in his days...but I suppose the Model 29 S&W was the next best thing at the time in those Dirty Harry daze!(lol). That should ruffle some feathers! (lol).
BER007 - You note the SRH is "ugly" (it is hideously so, in fact) and "not comfortable to shoot". My 6-1/2" 45 Colt Redhawk is not QUITE so ugly, and, certainly built like a tank, but, it is NOT comfortable to shoot. I don't know what it is about the gun, but it really is not comfortable feeling. I've tried different grips, but, that doesn't make a difference.
The Smith 29, on the other hand, is a really nice looking and shooting handgun, as are the older Dan Wessons and K/N frame (don't own any L frame) Smiths.

ugly is only possible when you have something else to compare it to. if you take 50 women...25 very attractive and 25 ugly. you will know what ugly is. but....get rid of the beautiful women and then all of a sudden the ugly ones look pretty good.
I have the Ruger SRH in 454 casull. if I compare it to the curvy single actions...well then yes kinda ugly. but get rid of the singles and compare to other heavy duty-straight shooting-reliable handguns and the SRH looks outstanding. I love mine. just compare apples to apples. I think the SRH is where the revolver should be going thru it's evolution. rugged, a great frame to build on. what more do we want? a friend of mine let me shoot his smith 629 in 44 mag. the recoil was just as bad as my casull. maybe ugly isn't so bad afterall. I prefer performance.
I think it looks "rugged" maybe not as pretty as those Greman Korth revolvers, but in the field who cares? I have a Steyer scout rifle. UGLY but handy, there lies it's inner beauty. Then again "beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the bone"

If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. So from my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you. Man!! I saw yo' wife the other day...And she's UGLY!! yeah man..... BUT SHE SHO' CAN COOK........ kinda says it all, don't it? GIG'EM AGS. Jim.
It keeps going, and going, and going. Like I said I just can't get comfortable with the single actions, something about the grip. But for the S&W fans, my carry gun is a Mod 29 in 4" dress. Thank you for all your opinions. Slim
Ugly, out of the box. Of course, they're designed to have a scope mounted. I think they look good that way. Without a scope, I'd rather have a Redhawk or 629. If I cared a lot about pretty, that is.

All opinions are accepted. But I think you'll change your mind after firing a Freedom Arms. I have one in .454 Casull and in September an other in .50 AE. But I agree that you don't like the look

Not ugly enough to keep me from drooling over them...Mmmmmmmm...454 Cassull.....>gargling noises<..... Actually the one thing that i find most useless on big handguns (SAs that is) is the bisley grip. Sunday I shot a couple of 44 mags a fellow had down at the range: a scoped S&W 629 and an open sighted Ruger Bisley Vaquero. Same load for 240 gr. lead bullets. The double action was just easier to handle and I think had a errgonomic grip than the bisley...just my $.02

I think they look good scoped. Without the scope, yes, it's ugly. (My other post showed up, and I didn't find it until afet I posted this, so only put me down as one vote for ugly).
The SRH is not ugly just different. I like it because it doesn't look like anything else. Taurus, Smith, Dan Wesson, Colt, double actions all look similar to me. Its not all about looks its whats inside that counts. !
