I remember reading about this cartridge and its revolver way back in the 1980s. Honestly, I hadn't thought much about it since then except for seeing the occasional reference on one of the auction sites.

Just recently I saw one for sale and it made me wonder why it had failed in the market. Why did that particular model, and cartridge, go under? I vaguely remember the article and it seems like it should have been good competition for Freedom Arms and the 454 Casull. Obviously it wasn't. Why?

Do any of you have one of those NAA revolvers? What is the fit and finish like? How about the strength of the frame and cylinder?

By the way, I have seen in several places where the cartridges are valued at $20 a pop. Obviously, if that is true and there is no source for new brass, it isn't a good idea for a would be buyer.

Interesting. Thanks, I had forgotten that it was a rimless cartridge. I wonder why in the world they went with that design? Since they were going to offer other cylinders, why not make the 450 Express a rimmed version?

Oh well, it would have been nice to have another option on the market. We have what, three options these days? Ruger, Freedom Arms and Magnum Research. I wish there were some more makes to choose from.

dick was involved with naa just before freedom arms got off the ground, they wanted a similar cartridge to compete with him but couldn't/wouldn't use his 454.
they split and dick went to freedom wyoming.
neither naa nor freedom arms will work on these guns.

that is actually a good article on the guns and i wish i'd read it before having to figure out i could make brass myself from the 454.
i think i may try some from the 308 family as the 0-6 brass is too thick and needs inside reaming to make work.

i wish they would have been more specific on the price of the rounds though [i paid 50 for 50 rounds factory]
it is also a bit off on pricing one in very good with both cylinders and factory box is worth about 1,600.00.
i wish i could find a 45 colt cylinder.
i asked dick if he would make me a cylinder the last time i seen him, and he told me ehh..
which from him means he might, if he remembers and has nothing to do that day. and feels like doing something.
so i'll keep looking.

Talk to Jack Huntington if you want to have a cylinder made. He is one of the few who makes his own.

I had one of these guns, I still remember the serial # PP9(pre-production #9). It was a great gun. I bought the gun with 2 cylinders(450 express & 45 win mag) with several boxes of ammo for $850. I can't remember why I ever traded it off.

I did a lot of research on the gun while I had it including talking to the guys at NAA, no-one there had much info. I talked to Dick at F/A and he was pretty helpful. I even called and talked to Jan Liborel who had once written an in-depth article on the gun.

The gun was very similar to the Freedom arms and I wish I still had it. Good luck on the 450.

That's an interesting article. I've never heard of that cartridge and I thought I knew all of the handgun magnums.
