I bought a new Freedom Arms Premier Grade .454 two weeks ago and the hardwood grips are already cracked. I called Freedom Arms and they said to send the gun back to them and they would replace the grips. I told them I would pay the difference if they would put on micarta instead of another pair of hardwood, and they said they could do that. Has anyone here had the same trouble with the hardwood grips? Did you have micarta put on? Did they hold up better? I've been waiting to get a Freedom Arms for a long time and it makes me sick to have to send it back after only two weeks.

All my Freedom Arms have micrata grips and they have been holding up pretty good. I would send it back to have a pair of micrata installed. I am sure folks at FA will make it right for you. The crack could have been caused by something else. I do not believe for a second that it was a quality issue. Good luck and keep us posted.

Roller,

I own a FA 10" Premier Grade in .454 casull, I have shot some hundred rounds with it, I have never have any problem with my grip (Rosewodd grip).

But for my next FA I'll ask for micarta grip.
