I need a new grip for my Redhawk. The grip I have now is too small and has those finger ridges on it. I put a Pachmayr Presentation (fingerless) grip on my SW 686 and it was better than the factory grip but it's still too small also. So who makes an oversize grip similiar to Pachmayr Presentation. Anybody use wood instead of rubber? Elmo

Just wondering, why don't you like the finger groove style grips? When I bought my Redhawk it had Pachmayr Presentations on it, they were nice but I also needed something bigger. After trying Pachmayr's decelerator grip(finger grooved), then Hogue's rubber finger grooves, I wound up with a pair of Hogue wooden finger groove style grips. They are larger than the Presentation grips, and the fit and finish would be hard to beat. But, yes they are the finger grooves. And, no I don't know who else makes a Presentaion style/size grip.

How big is your hand ? I have a size 9 hand and the Pachmayr fits fine. But I know a shooter whose fingers are 1/2" longer than mine, I helped him make grips that extended the backstrap 1/2". If after market grips don't fit then make your own.

The finger groove grips are just not big enough. The grip on my Redhawk has three grooves but only enough space for two of my fingers with my pinky under the butt. My palms are quite large and at a normal comfortable hold position, the trigger is between my second knuckle and my palm. I wonder if anyone makes an x-large inletted wood blank than can be shaped down to fit. Mete The added backstrap length is probably just what I need. Did you guys use a laminate or did you use solid wood?

He used solid wood , but either would work.I don't know your skills but inletting is the harder part. Woodworking tools and dremel tool are needed. A less than accurate inletting job could be fixed by glass bedding , you don't want the grips to move on the frame .The outside is more easily done with files and sandpaper ,the old cut and try method. If you don't have the skills doyou have a woodworking friend ?

You also might want to look at the Jordan grip from Herrett's grips. They are geared to large hands and Herrett makes them to fit you. http://www.herrettstocks.com/

Mete My woodworking skills are pretty good as I was a finish carpenter for twelve years as a younger man. Even with that experience, I know that inletting will be a time consuming pain in the keester. I'll let the guys with the CNC wood lathes handle that. Twillis Thanks for the Herret site address. I emailed them and asked if I could buy an inletted oversize stock blank. I'll post their reply, if and when I hear back from them. Elmo
