Well, does bfr have a point or not? Is it true or not? Please, do tell! Perhaps there is even MORE reason for me to think these revolvers are overpriced compared to a Ruger. Hmmm.

It's one of those situations where if you have to ask if it's worth the price; you probably just need to move on down the road.

There is a reason these revolvers dominate the WINNER'S CIRCLE at IHMSA; and it's not just to piss bfrshooter off.

If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

Since I am geting blamed for people buying FA's, figured I better jump in.

First off who in the hell is paying $2300 for a FA, someone with no brains and a fat wallet. The most I ever paid for a FA was $1795, a 10 inch Premier grade with a TSOB scope mount, and that was from a local gunshop who is a little high on his prices, retail at the time was over $2200. It was a 41 Mag so I had to buy it, could have waited a month or two and had one built for less money.

Ruger verse Freedom Arms, NO comparion at all. Fit, finish, accuracy, quaility compenents, a hand fitted semi-custom precision handgun, that is what the Freedom is. Ruger is a mass produced basic handgun, that will never live up to what a FA is or does. I could go on and on, but if you have never handled one, shot one, you can never understand the FA. Some people will just get too hung up on the price to really undertand what the FA is. I ALWAYS warn people...if you are thinking about buying a FA, you'd better be prepared to buy more because one is never enough.

Well, if we are gonna talk accuracy, this BFR is out of the box -- 3 shots, 50 yards, 1/4-inch group...... dancing Not bad for an $800 revolver, huh?

There is no doubt, nor can anyone make even a reasonable arguement that a Ruger out of the box can be even remotely compared to an FA. One would have to be a completely unrepentent moron to even make the suggestion (despite the vastly superior transfer bar system). I too agree that it would take an idiot to pay the MSRP, but it does remain $2,300.00 + for a premier grade 83 according to Freedom's website. At those prices I will have a custom built, but that's just me, and I will be giving nothing up to an FA.

They are a very fine revolver, no doubt. To suggest otherwise indicates to me that one needs to be committed to a psychiatric care facility.

They're coming to take you away, Jim....... Big Grin

Machine rest groups don't count. However, I agree the BFR are pretty stout/accurate revolvers.

Hello Gunner! Good to hear from you.

I will be shooting this PG 454 this weekend to wring it out against some of my "other" custom revolvers. So far I am impressed by the fit/finish ( I like a matte/beadblast better though) but not enough to state that they are worth 2 grand plus. The trigger pull does not impress me at all...way too heavy for a pricey revolver and to pay extra for a better pull is an ass-kicker for me. Once I shoot it that will determine if I keep it or not. If I keep it I will send it out for an action job ( and pay) as well as a more subdued finish. If truth be told, I am not a fan of FA but I will give them a fair shot. Did I say the trigger pull sucks.

Machine rest? Are you kidding?? I have never used a machine rest in testing and have no intention of starting.
