Well I fugged up.Shot the wrong Bear. All I can say is that at 35 yds from a ground blind he looked Big.200lbs dressed on the Butchers scale. All Black prime coat. The one I was after had a white V on his chest and was quite a bit larger.I had 3 bait stations going on 80 acres and looking at my pics it looked like the Big Boar had run the other bears out.I only had pics of him for 4 days. When this guy popped out, there was no doubt in my mind i had the right one.Untill I walked up to him.The I knew and it was too late.Anywho a 400 Gr Speer Golddot with 20 grs of H110 at 1,100 FPS through the shoulder equals a dead Bear.It flipped him and he moaned for two or three moments.Brush was shakin and I wAS VERY CAUTIOUS approaching him.By the time I got there it was all over.I should have the kill on my Trail Cam.I will check the pics this afternoon. For a Old fart like me,it was not fun Dragging him to a Road where I could get at him with my ATV.I wonder what I would have done if I did shoot the Big one?????

I bet there was lots of ground shrinkage on that one. Unless one spends lots of time watch and looking at bears it easy for some one to shoot not so big of one. I was very glad I was able get the atv to my daugthers 225 lb bear they drag very hard. I was able to get my tractor and bucket up to the 490lb one I shot still took 3 of us to just roll him into the bucket. When I worked at the local SO. We would register bears I had a guy bring in a 35 lb culb claiming it to be at least 100lbs legal weight at that time. Local warden didn't belive him also. I spent a good 10 min over looking my 490lb bear before I pulled the trigger on him. There wasn't any ground shrinkage on him he just kept getting bigger. Well the good thing about a 200lb bear he well be very good eating. Though to think one well have to wait another 6 to 7 years to get another permit. Good job and enjoy eating him.

OLBIKER Nothing wrong with that bear. Great shooting, the hide looks Primo. Plus I have found black bear meat to be VERY good to eat. Well Done. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I live in the UP of MI and we have alot of bear. Up here we consider any bear 200lbs of better a great bear. 300lb plus bears are very rare. I see an occasional 4-500 lb bear shot but they are the holy grail and a guy can hunt his whole life and never see a bear that big. Nothing to be ashamed of shooting a 200 lb bear!!!
