Is Ruger getting chamber mouth vs. barrel dimensions right these days? Just curious as there is a .45 Colt Bisley in my future ... There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

I just got a Bisley in .45 Colt, and while I haven't done any measuring as of yet, it has proven accurate out of the box with the one and only factory load I have tried in it (I've only had the chance to shoot it once). I'm almost afraid to look the proverbial gift horse in the mouth. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. I just don't get all tied up in knots over chamber and barrel dimensions. I've shot .452s down a .429 barrel with excellent accuracy. The .429s down the .452 barrel did fair. If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

Whitworth, that's a handsome gun. MS: .452s down a .429 barrel??? There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Light loads with cast bullets to show it could be done. Also have shot .45ACP cases as the projectile from my .475 Linebaugh. Hell of a hollow point. If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

Own the same revolver Whitworth posted. Outside of needing a trigger job to remove some creep (which I can do myself) it is a nice gun. You can pick these up on gunbrokers for just under $500 and it has to be one of the best buys out there to use with heavy 45 Colt loads. Am waiting to cast up some 300 grain bullets for it but so far it is pretty accurate with 240 and 300 grain jacketed bullets and 296. I plan on leaving the throats alone unless the cast bullets do not shoot well.

AK: I'm getting one that has been shot just a few times, blued, 7 1/2-inch barrel, faux ivories, for $400. Couldn't say no to a deal like that. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author
