Did you like your Gold cup? I enjoy shooting my 1911 govt. as well as my Gold cup. Hell I'd get another one.You would surely have a feel for it.Comfort is a giant factor with all guns but especialy with handguns , as far as accuracy goes.Just my opinion. So put another barrel in your Gold Cup and go back to shooting... The frame/slide, etc., shouldn't be hurt, and Gold Cup 1911s are extremely fine pistols. I would think long and hard before getting rid of yours.

.45 Fan... Over on the 1911 Forum, the DW .45s have a very enthusiastic following, however my experience was not good at all. I bought a new DW Bobtailed Commander with a checkered frontstrap. I thought I'd cut a fat hog in the a** and save a grand+ over an Ed Brown in a similar configuation. The gun wouldn't feed from the get go. It ejected the brass into my noggin. The sights flew off, and the sharp edges were terrible. In short, nothing that a trip to a good smith couldn't cure, but I got less than I paid for. A trip at my expense ($55) back to DW didn't cure the problems but their service dept. pronounced it fixed. I sold it at a loss to an apprentice gunsmith who knew of the problems and could deal with it. I was glad to be out of it. This was before CZ took DW over so YMMV. My advice is to invest in Colt, S&W, or one of the great, higher end semi customs like Les Baer or Wilson Combat. Money well spent...Tom
