Hello, I just got a Leupold 2.5-8x32 handgun for my Freedom Arms revolver.

I saw many of you have this optic so I wondered what rings and rings height you use with it.

The optic largest diameter would require medium height rings (.375") to keep the scope all over the mounting base.

Ayway centering the optic on the mounting base low rings (.25") are tall enough to allow installation even if a small space remain between the optic and the hammer.

What would you suggest ?

What are you going to do with all of that optic power..shoot flies at 200yds? If it's a hunting revolver you don't need any where near that much power. You would be better off with a 4x scope as you will never use the upper range of your scope...plus its a lot harder to pick up the target. Just my opinion here.

I've got the scope you mention mounted in the Lovell one-piece mount on my Model 83 .454 Casull. It's an extremely well made piece, fits very tight, and once you get it and your scope mounted you'll never have to touch it again. I've stuck with the same load and haven't adjusted my zero in four years. As far as height, I believe it only come in one size so there isn't much choice.

That's a lot of scope for a revolver...... Eeker

I have several F/A's on which I use that same scope --

I've found nothing better than the Leupold base and rings -- all steel and nothing can move once they're installed -- foolproof system.

Low rings work okay for a 32mm scope, but I use medium rings to make it easier to get to the hammer. On the range it matters not, but when facing dangerous game I'd rather have a little room for error.

When you get bored with life, start hunting dangerous game with a handgun.

I have the SSK TSOB Scope Mount Base. I never tried the Leupold rings.

Does anyone have experience with the Burris Signature Zee (weaver-style) rings ?

I have several sets of these rings and recommend them highly. You MIGHT have to open them up just a bit to fit onto an SSK base. On my .375 JDJ Contender barrel, the rings wouldn't slide onto the SSK vent rib scope base without opening up the rings just a touch. I had the same issue with the Weigand base on my .500 S&W and on an SSK TSOB base on a .30-06 JDJ Encore barrel.

Good luck!

I have a couple Leupold 2.5-8X EER scopes mounted in Leupold dual dovetail 1 piece bases with medium rings on a couple FA Mdl 83 454 Casull revolvers-the base/ring combo works well.

Keep'em in the X ring,
