As I have gotten older and my eyes have gotten fuzzier, I've paid more attention to open sights on hunting revolvers. I have been impressed with some of Ruger's sights, especially the shallow-V rear in combination with a gold bead or fiber-optic front. These are fast to acquire and the front sights offer a useful contrast against the fur of a deer, elk or bear. Anyone else have a favorite set of opens for a hunting revolver? There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

I like Bowen rear with Alpha Precision front, patridge is preferred over a ramp. Not the best set up for dawn and dusk, but the best sight picture for me in good light. My eyes are in their 50's. dvnv

Bill, I have found that for me, those "express style," shallow V-notch sights to be an up-close proposition that is very hard to use at distance. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." I have a few custom guns, and have the rear V sight with a gold bead front sight. They work great for me with hunting.. I got the work done by Gary Reeder, and those are the sights he uses.. If you're going to make a hole, make it a big one. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ Member of the Delaware Destroyers Member Reeders Misfits NRA Life Member ENDOWMENT MEMBER NAHC Life Member DSA Life Member
