May I ask why you sold your supermag? I have often thought it would make a good addition to my DW collection.

Do you know if there is any truth that DW sold there business to CZ?

glad to answer. The pistol I ordered was their top of the line, right-out-of-the custom shop model. All the fluting, coatings, tensioned barrel etc...I had problems with it from day one with it basically being ill-fitted, hanging up and a horrible trigger (not bad, horrible). It hung up when it came out of the box. I sent it back on my nickel and it was returned very quickly with the exact same problems. I enclosed a letter asking to call and evn wanting toi buy another barrel...no call. Their service just sucks, they dont return calls or e-mails etc. Not before the CZ buyout not after. My gun was missing tools, guages, manuals etc which after some time and more calls I did receive. I do quite a bit of gun work and after taking it apart several times and fitting all of the rough parts, sanding, polishing, cleaning up the trigger etc it was a nice gun and very, very accurate. The 445 round is easy to load with a 4-die set and every load I tried was accuarte enough for any hunter with some of the moderate loads being down right impressive. I had an opportunity the other day to make a trade on a rough cosmetic, but tight Freedom Arms and jumped. I lost my butt in the trade but just like everyone told me before THE FREEDOM ARMS IS TWICE THE WEAPON. Incredible workmanship and no play. Yesterday I called FA to ask a tech question was put right through to a friendly smith who answered graciously. The sad thing is the design of the DW really is great...the company just sucks. CZ is the new owner and I see no revolvers on their site so......

Thanks for your reply I have been seriously thinking about buying a new 445 supermag but you confirmed my fears. I thought the quality control had improved with the new owner but it appears just the opposite. It has been a hit and miss with my older production Dan Wessons also, some are great and others are just crap. I sent an email to Dan Wesson months ago and never received a reply. I found out about the sell to CZ while looking at them on Auction Arms.
I also have been looking at the Freedom Arms revolvers they are expensive but I have heard no bad remarks about them.
