The targrt was shot with no rest at 25 yds....

This one at 40 yards....

Left an empty under the hammer (so 5 shots)...

Gun dates to 1986 early in year....

Asking at dealer was 399,bought for 350...

Excellent!! You are welcome sir! Looks like the gun can shoot -- and the shooter! thumb That's a really nice looking piece! Sounds like you are happy with your purchase -- as you should be!

I really like those blued Redhawks! beer

Looks like you are going to be ready for Florida!

So here's a question...

Should I bench rest shoot various loads?

At what distances?

Or is just field practice good enough?

Other than the skills of the shooter...what is really the effective range, say with a field rest...shooting ,sticks ,tree ,pack ,etc.?

Thanks Dan

To test loads I would certainly bench rest the revolver. I stopped practicing at 25 yards and instead start at 50. It's made me a better shot, but offhand, I think it's good to mix it up at different distances from 25 yards on out to 100. You've done really well shooting like that offhand. I try to spend most of my time shooting in various field positions, like kneeling, using a tree or branch as a rest, shooting out of a tree stand, etc., but if you can shoot well offhand, the rest is pretty easy!

Yes, the snow always gets me thinking about warmer climes....... Big Grin But I do like it cold when I hunt deer.......

Did deer season start in NY? Are you planning on hunting, Dan? Practice a bit more and go blood that Redhawk of yours on a deer!

NY has 2 major zones, than each divided up into smaller units...

I'm in the Southern area and we are open for bow.Went out a couple of times, and had 2 does close, but our archery tag is for 1 buck or doe and I'll wait to fill it....

Headed to Spain next week for Mouflon and Fallow Deer and a little site seeing...

Firearm season will be open when I get back...

You're damn right! If I can avoid freezing my tookus off, I will, and that takes layers of clothing when you sit still in a tree for hours on end! jumping

That's great, Dan! Are you hunting with a rifle? I want to hear all about your trip when you get back!

I’m in the lower Up state NY if you can figure that one out?....That’s still south west of you Woodmandan, Buy the way, nice RRH. We didn’t get any of that snow here either. It was 65 degrees today and I’ve been bow hunting the last couple of days in a small patch of woods behind a church. (I’m on a mission-lol)
I whacked a turkey with a superlite 2114 arrow yesterday afternoon and had 6 does run by me as I was plucking feathers…darn! I wandered off my mission….Oh well please pass the gravy…
