Check the latest issue of "Shooting Times." They have a pretty good article on the Striker in this caliber. RKBA! |

| I've got a 300winmag that was rechambered from a 15" 308 barrel. With 150g SST I get around 2900fps.The 165SST get around 2800fps.This barrel has the T/C muzzle brake and it really tames the recoil. It is very easy to sit and shoot at the bench.Accuracy has been outstanding. | I have a Savage Striker in the 300 WSM. I'm getting an average of 2725 fps with the Barnes 168 XLC. I'm ditching the barrel brake and putting a 15" Shilen benchrest barrel on it this winter. The problem is you lose almost 2" of barrel length for the brake, which you don't need anyway. I now shoot it without the brake on and it's very manageable. I should get over 2900 fps with the new barrel and same bullet. |

| i have a striker in 708... that i had to get savage on the phone with the distributor to make them realize it WAS a valid part number.. as I got it the first season, and I wanted it blue and 14" barrel, no brake...
I get about 2700 or so with 139s... the same load is 2950 from a 22" barrel, with varget.
it's VERY accurate, and the recoil is a joke when compared to a nasty 44mag or stick 45lc
the gun is just impractical to stalk with...

| I disagree. That's like saying the rifle is impractical to stalk with. A pistol is lot easier than a rifle! The Savage Striker is just as easy to stalk with than TC or an XP 100 (Which I have successfully taken game with). I have taken numerous Deer and Antelope with successful stalks with my Savage Strikers (300 WSM and .308). |

| Hey guys, thanks for the info. I wrote a letter to savage (they don't take email) asking if they have plans to offer the WSM in 15 inch barrels, and also if they plan to add the new Accu-Trigger to this line. Any of you hear anything on this?
My main concern was the really short barrel on the striker too. What kinda cost are you talking to rebarrel with an after market? That might be an option down the road when I need something else to do to it. Its so much fun to tinker with these things. |

| I called Savage about the trigger and they are not going to offer the Accu-Trigger, different setup. But you won't need to, the new Savage Strikers are completely adjustable. I was pleasantly surprised. It is just as good as my Rifle Basix, if not better.
I'm putting on a 15" Shilen Stainless Steel benchrest barrel this winter on my 300 WSM. The barrel and installation will run me about $400. |
