I shot another deer today with the BFR. I tracked them in the snow and jumped them from beds. A big doe was standing behind a lot of brush and I aimed behind her shoulder. I must have had some deflection from the trees and brush because I hit her several inches farther back. I picked up her track and shortly found massive amounts of blood. She didn't go far. BIG hole, in and out. I would never have tried this shot with a rifle. I figured the big flat slug from the 45-70 would make it through and it did. Great brush buster. I quit hunting for the year as I have five. I am splitting this one between two neighbors.

Congrats on the deer. I shot one a doe with a 454 Raging bull. I used a hornady 240 gr XTP-Mag no with Expansion even at 1650fps. What slug and how fast was your 45-70 going? Swede44mag

Swede, I made the mold. It is like the LBT WLNGC and weighs 317 grs. I use 31 grs. of 4759 with some dacron filler. Velocity is 1535 fps. Recoil is pleasant and pressure is very low. Accuracy is well below one inch at 50 yds. and I have several one inch groups at 75 yds. I cast hard by adding tin and antimony to wheel weights, then water dropping them. I also use Felix lube. No expansion is needed and the results of this type of bullet in my .44 mag., .45 colt and the 45-70 is tremendous on deer. Internal destruction is massive but there is almost no meat loss. Penetration is unbelievable and will go end to end on deer or probably cape buffalo too. I have never recovered any of these bullets even after digging deep holes in the ground. I will never use a condom bullet on deer again.
