I just bought a custom xp-100 in 6mm br (15" barrel). I've gotta scope it now. I'm thinking for deer maybe out to 200 yds (max). I like the idea of fixed 4x for price and all around simplicity, but a variable might be nice for load development. Hmmmm...

Your thoughts? TIA.

9.3x62,

I recommend the Burris 2-7x32 to all of my customers using my custom Xp-100's. They provide just about the best eye relief for big game hunting where shooting positions can often vary quite a bit.

They are as tough as they come and are extremely accurate and consistant.

TO be honest, the Burris 1.5-4 would be plenty of scope for deer hunting out to 200 yards but the eye releif is not set up like the bigger 2-7 is so it is not as good an option for the XP.

If your planing on shooting at longer ranges at smaller targets, The Burris 3-12 would be my only pick for a conventional hunting calibered XP-100.

Just remember that the more power you have the more tied to a rest you will be. A straign 4x is a great scope but fairly limited in what it will do. It is actually to my power for offhand shooting or even partially supported shooting, and it really is not enough scope for shooting deer much past 200 yards.

Still with that as your range limit, I would still go with the 2-7 burris for its versitility and strength over all other handgun scopes.

I would also highly recommend a Burris base and Burris Signature rings. They are the only mounting system I will use for heavy recoiling handguns and conventional hunting rifles for that matter. They are the best on the market and all that is in my shop unless the customer insists on another brand.

Good Shooting!!!
