When I asked Gary about the 378GNR and did not know what to expect, he graciously sent me his own personal 378GNR Encore along with 20 cartidges to try out. Now how can you beat that. Perhaps if you ask he will without a doubt do the same. He is currently hunting at the Y-O ranch but will be back in a few days. I have both the 378GNR and a 416GNR. I have not shot the 416GNR yet but I slain a bunch of critters in africa with my 378GNR, which is an awesome cartridge. My barrel is 12" plus a 2" brake and is just right. I also have a 338GNR that needs to be exercised too. Gary has some wonderful cartridges and is a good person to deal with too. BTW, Kase Reeder does some darn nice work on the semi-auto handguns as well.

I am shooting 260gr Nosler Accubonds @ 2350fps. The accubonds at the handgun velocities mimic partitions. Yes, you can take two barrels with one frame. Back in 2006, 9 handgun hunters went to Africa with Gary and we slain over 90 head of game. Some were right up there in the record books and it was a decent hunting trip. Many of us were using the Accubonds, with a few using Barnes xxx shocks. The accubonds performed very well. I learned Giraffe are extremely tough animals...one of the guys needed 15 shots from a 500 S&W to put him down...all solid hits too. You will love the 378GNR....it will take anything including elephant, as Leo Munyan can attest to. He took his ele with the 378GNR in a contender, loaded down a bit from the encore power level. Probably a 300gr solid @ 2000fps.

I also have both the 378 and 416. As Woody said, the 378 is an awesome caliber. The 416 is a handful. My 416 barrel is 16 1/2", so it can also be used as a carbine. I shot a bull elk with it and it was a bang-flop.
