well i arrived at the range this morning 8am.

i had the place to my self so quikly got to work befor others showed up.

first barrel a 15" blued 25/06 with a tc low varible hand gun scope(came with the package).

the loads i were using are 115 grain barns x with 53 grains of rel 22

my first shot was 2" low 1.5" right so i made the proper corrections

i then waited 2 minutes to make shure everything was cold.

i then shot a 3 round 50 yard groups measuring .550-.556

i then moved to 100 yards and shot another 3 shot groups from a cold cleaned barrel going .937-1.000

i fired 5 rounds through the crhony and velositys are avd....2875..2900...im basicly matching 6.5 jdj proformace.

the 375 jdj was awsome recoil wasnt nearly as bad as my 500 or as bad as some people make it out to be i was using factory hornady 220 ammo and groups were in the 100 yard 1.125-1.375 range.

i have a feeling i can fine tune it and get it even better.

Sounds like you're off to a strong start. Are you using a bipod or shooting over bags? Is the 375 barrel wearing a scope? Do you plan to play with heavy bullets 270-300 in the JDJ tube?

Looks really promising particularly on the first outing!

both barrel are scoped and all shots are from a bench and sand bags.

when i select my hunting load i then move to bipods and other shooting postions

and yes i will probably go to the 270 grain 375 hornady bullets if they shoot well.

these guns will be used for wild boar and deer only i may in the future use them on a plains game safarie but highly doubt that as any visit to africa will be for elephant and my 505 will be used for that.

Thanks for a great report. That 115 X at those velocities is considerably better than the 6.5 JDJ in my opinion. A 100 Gr .25 ought to really be smoking and should be all that you will need for deer. Keep up the good work and be sure to let us know how your range sessions and hunts turn out...Rusty.

the 6.5 jdj is listed at putting a 129 grain bullet out at 2350 tops

i tryed some loads in the 25/06 nosler 120 grain partition and im belting them out at 2750

6.5 jdj....1.900"
25/05....2.490

case capasity wins every time.

700- try the Nosler 260 Accubonds in your 375. I use them in my 378 GNR which is similar to the JDJ with a little more power. It LOVES the Accubonds.

700 Nitro: Nosler makes the partition in 100, 125 and 140 bullet weights in the 6.5 diameter. The ballastic tips come in 100 and the 120 grain weights in 6.5. If you are running 2750 fps with 120s, you are going to eventually stretch your frame with a Contender and the 225 Win case with the 120s, which is the case that the 6.5 JDJ is based on.

The 6.5 MiniDreadnaught JDJ is based on the 220 Swift case, which has a rim as does the 225 Win, and considerably more case capacity.

Both the 6.5 x 270 JDJ and the MD have the 60 degree shoulders instead of the 6.5 JDJ's 40 degree shoulder, with considerably more powder capacity than the swift case has. The rimless JDJ rounds based on the 3006 case are dubbed "The Magnum Beaters" because they exceed what you can do with 300 Winchester Magnum based cartridges, velocity wise, in 15 inch length Encore barrels and frames, with less powder and muzzle blast. At 2750, I believe you may have been talking about the 100 Gr partition in the 6.5 JDJ unless you are running it on an Encore frame...Rusty.

A friend used the 260 gr accubonds in his 375 JDJ for a musc ox hunt, and he was very disapointed in the performance. With the relatively sedate velocity of the JDJ, the standard 270 gr honrady cup/core is a superb bullet.

rusty im shooting a 25/06 not a 6.5 jdj(based on the 225 win case) i was just showing every one that the 25/06 out proforms it.

and im shooting a encore frame not a contender.

i am also looking at a stainless encore in the 416 jdj based on the 30/06 moving a 400 grain bullet at 2200 fps from a 15" barrel.

the 375 in this class will move a 220 at 2600+ where as the 375 jdj moves it at just reaching 2300
