new to handgun hunting. i need a good 358 load for a wildebeest hunt i am planning this spring.TEXAS not Africa!I do not want to use ballistic tip bullets, as they destroy too much meat. I am shooting a fifteen inch encore, with scope. I previously shot a scimitar oryx at a 110 yards, one shot kill, with 308 win,165 gr. federal premium, sierra boat tail. Would the sierra bullets be tough enough as the wildebeest is larger and tougher, I am told.

The 225 Nolser Partition should bag just about anything. Their manual shows 4895 as giving very good velocities.

Meat damage is something that goes with the territory. I would not even think about it. Just get the game on the ground ASAP.

The 200 Barnes-X should be great if accurate in your gun.

I have taken a cow elk with a Hornady 250gr. round nose out of a 15" Encore 35 Whelen at 2100fps. at the muzzle. She went down like a freight train hit her. [Wink]

Mr. Kimmell,

How did that 250 RN expand/penetrate at that muzzle velocity?
