5 shot cylinder
Anyone make a 5 shot cylinder for an N frame Smith? Similar to the one Bowen makes for the Redhawk? Thanks, Grant.

You may want to check Brownells. They were carrying them for single actions at one time.

You will have to send your gun it to get one fitted and made for your gun. If you want one that looks like Bowen, send your gun to Bowen and have it done. That would be my best advice.

Check with Dave Clements. I understand he can produce them, but they aren't cheap...

Not looking to get slammed here, just curious as to why you would want to go through more expense to lose one round, unless you are doing a conversion to a much larger cartridge?

I don't think the S&W frame and lockwork are strong enough to take the increased pressures from a 5 shooter conversion. People have shot them loose with standard 44 mag loads, I can't imagine they'd hold up for long as a 5 shooter.

That is why I have all my custom work on a single shot Ruger Super Blackhawk or Blackhawk frame.

daniel,

that's exactly the reason for a five shot conversion.

Paul H,

the older revolvers had these problems, but work has been done to correct it. Not to say they would hold up to the higher pressures.

As far as I know, Jack Huntington is the only one building 5-shot cylinders for N-frames.

Yes that one. I still think the Dan Wesson was the way to go. You really had me going with the fast twist idea. I still don't think it is out of my system, I wonder if my high standard 106 will feed. Wink

Jeffe, call him again tomorrow, he was very busy today -- I talked to him twice briefly.

They advised that I just send the 625 in for them to tune and tighten, and not bother with a 5 shot ...

okay!
