anyone have suggestions on such a build?
I have a combo 9/357, 7 1/2" that's new and always wanted a revolver in 40 Smith.

Ordered a blank from Green Mtn, it's in, need to get the gun to the 'smith yet. He's looking for a cyl reamer if anyone has one I'd like to talk about it.

Think I'll be satisfied with the cartridge?

Thanks,
George

Many years ago, I bought two limited run combos. 38-40 and 10mm, and 32-20 and 30 carbine.

Lots of fun Should have kept them both.

Send the revolver back to Ruger and tell them you need a replacement cylinder in 9mm.

I have a pair of Stainless Vaqueros that are FACTORY chambered in 40 S&W. They were a limited edition run back in 2000.

If it is the caliber you are interested in more than the make and model of revolver, you could buy a S&w 610 and shoot 40 S&W and 10mm interchangably.

There was a distributor exlusive offered by Davidsons in 2000 or 2001 that was a stainless steel Vaquero convertible in .38/40 and .40 S&W.

A little trivia here, Ruger made (1400?) of the stainless Vaqueros for the 150yr anniversary of the San Diego Sheriffs Dept in 2000. They were designed to be a blend of the old western revolvers carried in 1850 and the .40 cal weapons carried today. They came with some engraving on the barrel and laser etched 150yr anniversary grips in a beautiful glass top oak case. There was a space in the case to fit the special run of 150yr comm. badges that were also available. One of the selling points advertised to deputies was that these would be more collectible because the dept. was assured by Ruger in a contract that this would be the only batch that would ever be made and marked for 40 S&W. They did go on to make some convertibles but none that were straight .40's.

The 40S&W has plenty of power. I'm getting 1020 fps shooting cast 155 gr bullets out of my 3" Springfield EMP. And it's not a max load! 180 grain factory loads do 950 fps. Just think what a Blackhawk would do with a 4 5/8 or 5 1/2 inch barrel.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm a straight blackhawk fan and ALL I want are the 7 1/2" barrels as all my holsters are that size and just what I'm used to and want.

I started back in '73 with a .30 carbine and love it yet. Must have put 10,000 thru it by now and it's still like new, just less bluing and different grips as my hands are too big for factory.

Have a couple single six's, a .357 and this combo, plus a Colt all the same tube's.
I've wanted a .40 but never found one other than imports. Back when "those" mentioned were sold I wasn't in position to buy and not doing much shooting then either so I never knew about them. Thanks for the info.

I'm looking for a cyl reamer now. And a screw on type front site. Assume Brownell's will have that once I get that far. Looks like I'll meet up with the guy making it on the 19th to hand over the gun. He's had the barrel a couple months.

Thank you, good to hear the results of the short barrel. Once it's up n running I'll post back the results. Will be awhile yet I'm sure. Going for back surgery mid April IF the dr can see what's wrong and feels he can fix it.

George

You joking: $800 each?
Hell they sold new for half that I'll bet.

Back dr can't see the problem so don't look like I'll get the back fixed anytime soon if ever.

Bob has the gun now and Midway has the front sight we want for less than ten bucks.

Still looking for a cylinder/chamber reamer.
