I have found an Encore with 10" barrel, stainless receiver and barrel in .22lr. The cost is $1,121 and $574 for the frame. I can get a Browning auto for less than half that money. Is it worth it, how much extra usable accuracy can I get out of a Contender? Is that what you expect to pay for a TC in the the States? Thanks...

This will answer your question. I just bought a NIB frame for $215 USD and a new .454 Casull 12" barrel for $185 USD, in a nutshell, if you buy this you're getting SCREWED!!! At least if you're buying it in America, maybe they have jumped the prices overseas, but you could damn near fly here, buy one, and fly back for the price they're asking you to pay. BTW, there is a difference between a Contender and an Encore, make sure you know the difference before you buy. The contender is made for most handgun calibers, the Encore is a much heavier frame and will handle anything you put in it, including a .375 H&H! Yardbird

Express, Contenders are very accurate, but those prices are exorbitant. Blaser is producing a pistol now based on their R-93 platform, and may be more economical for you. George

That is the price "bignami", Italy's pricipal importer for most arms have given me as their RRP. I have asked my dealer what he can do for me, but I think it would still be way too expensive. I looked at a Browning Buckmark Bullseye which seemed a very nice gun, at about 1/3 of the price too. Another nice guns is the FAS Domino, a target .22lr although the ungainly target grip makes difficult to find a holter for, not do I think it can have a normal type of grip applied. Thanks for the info

Yardbirds prices are dirt cheap. New Contender frames were going for that much around here, 8-10 years ago.

the last encore frame i bought (from a dedicated T/C dealer) was $275 (last fall) but his price recently went up to $300 he has not gotten any contender G2 frames . . . i did buy a used contender frame (like new) from him after xmas that was $225 new barrels run about $180, used ones about $100 or so, depending on quality. i've been spending a bit more of late, though, for custom barrels . . . troy
