Got back last night from shooting groundhogs in Pendleton and Tucker County, WV. Used my Contender in .223 Remington and my S&W Model 29 for a total of twelve. Bullets used were the 50 grain Ballistic Tip and the 240 grain XTP. Also took my .32 Mag Bisley using 115 grain cast LFNs, but no revolver shots presented themselves wile I was carrying it. Doc Rogers and I did a lot of walking on steep terrain; using elevation to allow us to see the 'hogs in grass that is getting a bit tall for easier hunting. The grass was shorter in some of the higher elevations and this made spotting them easier. Shooting was done off our backpacks and we connected on shots out to around 300 yards. We did shoot a few while checking holes; this is the really fun part as shots are quick and head shots are generally the rule. I'll get some photos posted as soon as I can. If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out. | ||
