I bought a 2x Leupold to put on my SBH, but had second thoughts about drilling into the topstrap to do this. Has this worked well for those who have done it? After hearing about the SBH Hunters and Bisley Hunters, maybe it would be easier to get another revolver to go along with the scope. This sounds like the time I bought a nice cotton gun case at a Mt Man Rendezvous, then decided I had better go find a muzzleloader to put in it (wife wasn't thrilled about that one).

The Hunter models balance better with the scope further out over the barrel. It also seems to dampen recoil more when it sits out over the barrel like on a hunter or redhawk. Hunters and redhawks both have integral scope mounts on them. I would strongly suggest getting another gun instead of drilling the one you already have. S&W are also drilled and tapped already. I do not like scopes on my hunting revolvers. It makes the gun a little too heavy for feild use and does not improve my accuracy - probably because of the added weight and the huge Pacmyer grip on the redhawk the scope is on. You might like scopes, but then again you might find out you do not. Once you drill and tap thats it. Plus that sounds like an excelent excuse for a new gun!! David

Oh, I'm not looking for one now. After I got that gun case I found an old T/C Renegade to put in it. Thanks anyway.
