I just picked up a 480 Ruger SRH. With K-mart Folding here in Alaska I was able to get it at a reasonable ($525.00). I had been Drooling over these for a year.
[Big Grin] I will be developing loads, 325g 400g??? anyone have any info/experience they are willing
to share [Big Grin]

Thanks!!

I have yet to shoot any game with my 480 Ruger but with a 390-grain LFNPB and 20 grains of H4227, my gun would put 5 holes into one on the bullseye at a 25-yard range. Good luck.

I finally picked up a pound of Lil gun, and will be testing it with the lee 400's. Asside from that, use unique for mild loads, and H110 for top loads.

The only game I've taken is a pair of spruce hens, a 310 gr @ 700 fps is very effective, yet doesn't destroy much meat. Now if I could just find a moose in the KNWR, I'd gladly try the 460 gr WFN's!

I have been playing a fair amount with this caliber. There is great info at the www.hodgdon.com website for reloading data. Speer has some at http://www.sixgunner.com/FAQ/Default.htm

http://www.serveroptions.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=25;t=000222 has a bunch of Paul H loads. He did quite a bit of work. Lots of info here. Another good post was http://www.serveroptions.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=000389 This has some of my chrono work on it with different bulllets.

http://www.findarticles.com/ and search for John Taffin's Reloading the 480. Lots of loading data here too.

This is a fun cartridge. Let us know your progress

Oh Tsturm

I forgot to tell you my experience hunting with it. I missed. [Frown] It was mother nature and shooter error [Big Grin] . I blew an running shot as the doe turned. The 480 shoots up great dirt clods [Wink] The clods were all dead as the 480 did its job.

Not to be outdone, since we're playing top this! I took a gallon water jug at 20 paces......through the heart! dressed at around 5oz. Saw the hog turn, smile, twist his head in a mocking motion, and roll in uncontrollable laughter........Jim [Big Grin]
