Just looked at Titanium S&W 329PD in 44 mag 4" Revover, talking about lite! I have a Performance Shop 5" that I am very fond of, but the lite would make make a perfect back gun in bear country. Has anyone used the new frames in Magnum Rev.?

shot my buddies 396 which is a 3 inch ajt sight 5 shot .44 special with a 3" barrel that weights 18oz recoil is stout with even 7.5 grains of unique and a 250swc but not to bad. About like shooting full mags in a N frame. Liked it so much that I have one comming in the big brown truck tommarow. Carried his around all day in a pancake holster behind my back and after a while didnt even know it was there. Ive handled the .44 mag 296 but it was on a N frame and weighted quite a bit more. This little gun is about the ultimate for a backup in the brush or even a powerful consealed carry gun

I looked at the a new light weight S@W when I was in AK in sept. Very light after hauling around my redhawk for a week. I thought that would be nice to carry instead.

Lloyd,

Is that 396 a S&W? I presume a "new" model?
I haven't seen any yet here in PDRK. Maybe it's not "accepted" by the State yet. [Wink]

I'm not sure about those adjustible sights though. I like fixed for my carry/backup. Is there another model like that?

I really like the idea of a 3" 44 Special. My old Charter Bulldog has worked for years, but I wouldn't mind a "newer" model.

I've always handloaded a heavy bullet a little below factory velocity. Much easier to handle and easier on the lightweight frame of the Charter. [Big Grin]

I've been playing with the S&W 329 for a couple of months now. With 7.5g of Unique and a 240g SWC, you get some recoil. I tried a few 240g SWCs w/ 23g of 296 - very stiff. Some Corbon 320g are unacceptable. I then tried my favorite general purpose load - 10g of Unique and a 300g D&J bullet. Still a bit much. so I backed down to 9g of Unique. It pushes the 300g bullet at 1020 fps from my gun. Bearable recoil. It's only a 100 fps slower than 10g of Unique but much more controlable.

The more I play with it the more I like it. I did go to a square notch and regular black ramp and had some major reduction of the trigger and sharp edges so it's more of a combat revolver now.

I'm not selling! Oh, get the Pachmayr decelerators. Nothing else will do for grips.

I think you get more effectiveness out of these super light 44 cal. trail guns if you load low velocity 240 lead bullets at 750 fps and practice triple taps at 7 paces. This is about 5 times as effective as one hit from a full house 44 Mag. Use full house 44 loads in your las 2 cylinders.
