Well I talked to Gary Reeder, and told him what I was looking for. I was going to send in my Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt, but I love that gun to death. So I went to the gun shop to see if they had any used new model Blackhawk's or Super Blackhawk's to use as a base gun. I found a like new stainless 5 inch 44 Mag in great shape for $400. I got the Ruger Super Blackhawk, and took it to my local gunsmith and had him break it down, I wanted the hammer from the Super Blackhawk to be installed on my 45 Colt Blackhawk. I did not like that long hammer on the Blackhawk. Got the hammer swapped out. We got the gun for Gary Reeder broke down and got it boxer up and it was sent to Gary Reeder to do is magic.

I am have Gary make it into his Alaskan Model chambered in a 5 shot 475 Linebaugh with a 6 inch barrel. It will be a vapor honed stainless with black Micarta grips. No sissy porting will be on the gun either.

Now the wait begins. I have a lot of time to load up a bunch of different ammo.

I have an Alaskan just as you describe...except in a 500 Linebaugh. It has 2 engraved cylinders...one for nice and one for naughty. Its a lot of gun, thats for sure(no porting). Pretty too.

That sounds awesome Redhawk1. Cool I am considering putting together a custom revolver myself. I'm leaning toward a .480 in a bisley frame.

Can Reeder machine an integral scope base in the barrel? I would prefer to have a Weaver style base machined in like S&W makes on some of their PC pieces. I would like to use a red dot scope and Warne QD rings and leave my iron sights sighted in.

Can someone post a pic of the .480 and the .475 Linebaugh cartridges side by side?

The last two on the right -- the far right is the Linebaugh.

Back a few years ago I believe I remember seeing a Wiegand base mounted on a Ruger single-action. The revolver was used for silhouette shooting and looked fine.

Yea I got it back awhile back, I need to take it to the range, and see how it works out.
I went on my black bear hunt and have been bow hunting, so I have not had the opportunity to take it out.
