wheat, Welcome to this forum. Never tried any rifle powders in my big bore handguns. Frankly I don't know what will happen if I try it. My best advice purchase a Century revolver in .45-70,50-90 or 50-110 and try 4198 powder in this revolver. I know that Dick Casull used the triplex powder, it was a mixing of handgun fast burning powders and rifle slow burning powders. BUT at this time he has no other choices to load his .454 Casull, no H110 and similar powder were available. One thing is certain he blew up some Colt SAA because of this triplex. Be careful and safe.

Wheat, 4198 is going to be a bit slow for your application. I'd look at trading powder or just going to an appropriate one for these calibers.

The burning rate is a little on the slow side and the powder is on the bulky side so you would run out of case capisity before you get the pressure up. Might try AA1680. fwiw Dan

thanks for all you input guys I really appriciate it, I thought I would run out of case capacity before I got pressure up but a reduced load is ok for me to plink with-lord knows I could use the practice- I just wanted to be safe and to use up that powder, I bought alot more than I should have and thought this may be a good way to burn it up

Wheat, You can send up some to me for my .30 Herrett and .38/55. Is it IMR or H? Or surplus?
