Hello. I'm seeking advise as to eliminating leading in my S&W 629. I got tired of using jacketed bullets and have been loading Leadheads 250g Keith style bullet with 10.5g of Unique. This is not a stout load, as I just want to shoot deer without all the blast and recoil. I fired 12 rounds recently and stopped because I needed to put a little more crimp on my loads (bullets were working forward in the cases). I decided to clean the barrel and it was heavily leaded past the forcing cone. I had to use 0000 steel wool over a patched jag to get it out. This barrel was cleaned very well to get all the copper, and polished with JB bore paste, before shooting lead. I had a horrible case of leading in the past with swaged bullets, but thought I would be ok with hard cast. Any advise or is this just a barrel that will not shoot lead?

If I have to go back to jacketed bullets any recommendations? I was not happy with the XTP or any hollowpoints. How about the 270g Goldtip? Thanks
