DEER & ELK PHOTO'S

I've been trying for a month to figure out the new "upgrades" on photobucket, what a pain! Anyway, one of my daughter in laws bailed me out & life is good!
My deer & elk season was cut short by back surgery but I did get out a few days for deer & one day for elk.
We had some early snow & although me & Callshot saw a lot of deer its tough getting to them when you are having severe back pain, we spotted several bucks, 3 on the last day but couldn't get to them, maybe next year.
My elk hunt was cut to one day on horseback because the Drs wouldn't stop running tests on me, 2 days before the elk hunt he went up through my femoral artery in my groin to check out my heart, he told me going elk hunting on horse back could lead to a serious accident (bleeding out) I went anyway but even though I saw more elk in one herd than I've ever seen at one time it didn't fall into place. My buddies walked right down to over 200 head of elk, I was almost in tears that they could be so cruel as to leave me up there alone! Actually the plan was for them to circle the herd from 2 sides & maybe flush some of the elk up through the top of the basin where me & my Harton 480 were waiting with bad intentions.
Nothing in the lower 48 can compare to hunting elk, its never gotten old in 50 years of hunting them.
When my 2 buddies got below the herd & elk started standing up & up & up, it was truly a lifetime scene that was unfolding below me, large herds of cows & calves were running in all directions, the bulls were bugling, trying to figure out what was going on, the cows & calves were barking, mewing, chirping, it was totoally breath taking to witness.
The herds finally broke into several smaller bunches of 30-40, maybe 50 & ran in all directions, the lead cows were continually stopping & trying to sort out what was taking place, then they would turn & run the other way, this went on for 15 minutes.
I actually could have taken a shot once but it would have been a flock shot into a large herd, it would have been impossible to miss but I didn't fire, I didn't need one that bad. The day ended after dark & over 20 miles of some very rugged country, I was so sore 2 days later when the surgery started I couldn't decide where I hurt the most.
This was in mid Oct. hunting bucks.

This is my 2 buddies & their Foxtrotter horses.

You should be able to make out a lot of elk in the next 2 photos.

Although I never scored 3 of my 4 sons' & one grandson had a fantastic year, between them the took 6 bucks, 2 in Wyoming, one of these dandies scores over 190".
I could never get all 6 racks together at the same time but they are all very similar. These is 3 of them.

Dandy racks, Dick. I've quit messing with new Photobucket. I'll stay with the old as long as I can. Glad to see you feel well enough to start some posting again.
