I want to hunt whitetail with my new XP100 in .260 next week and wondered if any of you have some pet loads for it. I have 200 120grn Speer Hot Core bullets, and many types of powders. Mike [ 11-26-2003, 09:54: Message edited by: McClura ]

McClura, Try 36-39 grains of VARGET with the 120's. I use 43.0 grains of VARGET and a 100 grain NOSLER BT in my daughters .260 and have shot 40 grains of VARGET and the 100 gr NOSLER in a friends xp-100. Accuracy was good and it would have stood to be pumped as that was a very light(starting) load. I tried 36 grains of Varget behind some 120 gr BARNES bullets and that load was acceptable also. Good Luck! GHD

Mike, I just got back from the range and have found a load that worked good for me. I used IMR-3031 @ 39.5 grs. My chrony reached 2760 fps. with no sign of high pressure. I hope this information helps. I would back off 2 grs. to start with and go from there. This velocity should give you a good bullet path. Good Luck, Todd

Thanks for the response. I took the XP100 out this weekend and shot a few rounds I loaded. The best so far is 39.5 grns of IMR4895, Speer 120 grn Hot Core, Fed 210 primer and OAL of 2.785. I'm getting quarter size groups at 100 yds with this. It is shooting an average of 2532fps. With this load 1.5" high at 100 it is right on at 150yds and 4" low at 200. I think I can live with that for where I hunt right now. This will be my load for whitetail right now but plan to try other loads. I would like to have a little flatter trajectory if I can. Thanks again Mike
