For all of you 500 Linebaugh shooters out there, What is the best way to go about making brass?
I know you can cut down and ream out 348win, I've heard that you can just cut down 50 Alaskan, but what about 50-70 brass, can you just cut it down, or do you have to ream it out also?

Reaming is dependent on brass thickness were the bullet is seated. 50 Alaska is a blow out 348 Winn.

Personally, I would just buy the correctly headstamped brass. It is available. JMHO.

Grizzly Cartridge/Cast Performance has thousands of pieces of Hornady .500 Linebaugh brass in stock for .50 cents a piece.

Get in with Starline. They have the window open, so to speak, on ordering the .500 Linebaugh brass with a TBD ship date.

That's really good to know should I take the plunge on a .500.

Whitworth: How much more (or potentially less) would a .500 Linebaugh be than my .475? I figured they be about the same with perhaps more of a push from the .500.

Recoil wise? Depends on how you load 'em. If the guns are set up equally with the same length barrel, etc., the .500 will come up lighter as the holes are visibly bigger. How do you load your .475? I shot 500 - 525 grain bullets out of mine between 1,100 and 1,200 fps and it was bordering on brutal.

I ran 410 grain cast bullets to 1600 fps in my 500L 7.5 inch Redhawk. Took about a year to quit flinching after that.

Anybody know if Cast Performance has any .500 Maximum brass on hand?

I think you can forget about that. The Max brass is very difficult to get, whether it be 500 or 475 Max. Luckily I got some of the proper head-stamped 475Max brass from Andy Rowe before he closed up shop. The 500Max is even harder to get, that's why for the 50 caliber I went with two 500 S&W's, one being a BMF and the other a Professional Hunter. Good luck and if I see some I will PM you.

No, Mike Rintoul doesn't have any. I've got about 150 pieces, but I use it. Your best bet is to cut down .50 Alaskan brass.

. Also 348 Winchester brass can be used to make the 500 max cases. 45/70 can be used to make the 475 max cases.

Whit: or others.

Awhile back I resized 500 U/M cases and split about 45 necks. The brass was fine otherwise.
I donated them to a fellow in CA that don't have any idea what to use 'em for but, he wanted them and was first to respond.

Is there any handgun that could use those cases?
I'm not very familiar with such doings. I just stick with the Blackhawk .45 colt 7.5" It's all I can handle with the 330's w/20gr H110.

Thanks, just wondering is all.
