I recently purchased a SSK 375 JDJ from a gun show, got dies and brass. Just needing recommendations for bullets. Will be used on deer and hogs, nothing over 250 pounds. Powder type and charge weight woill be appreciated too. Thanks in advance, John

If you will contact SSK, they will send you load data for the cartridge. I have found the Hornady 220 FP devastating on deer size game. I am currently using AA2520 powder. I'll have to check my notes for the charge weight as I don't remember it off the top of my head. If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

Ditto on the 220 Horn. FP. I experimented with AA2520 years ago with that bullet, but settled on 51 gr. of H4895 driven by CCI BR2's, and have been quite pleased with it. I do use the "standard" load of 52 gr. AA2520 with the 270 gr. Horn. Spire point, and Fed. 210's for heavier game. Seat the base of the bullet flush with the bottom of the neck with these loads, not to the cannelure, and use them in SSK barrels after working up... I don't know squat about T/C or rechambered barrels. MS. Hitman's advice to contact SSK is the best.

I have shot deer with the 220gr Hornaday FP and the 235 Speer with reduced loads in my 20" 375 H&H with excellent results. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I just picked up a 375 barrel for my encore from JDJ. His load data sheet is very close to what is in the 7th edition Hornady manual. After talking with him he indicated a few things. All his data and published data he knows of was for contender frames, and the encore could be loaded "quite a bit hotter" The 220gr Hornaday or the 235 speer is the way to go for all smaller of the big game. JDJ suggested that the 270/300's be reserved for the big bears/moose and up. I've been working up loads with H322 and so far have been happy with them. I did notice a significant recoil change in the 42-45gr range. Below that were very pleasant, above that I needed to put on some shooting gloves. I should have my chronograph on the door step today so the next few range trips should tell me more clearly exactly where my loads are vs. published data. I opted for a 14" final length barrel with muzzle brake included. Most of the published data is for a 14" OAL and I'm guessing my barrel is closer to 12.5". My data from what I recall was H322 with a 220gr FP Hornady; start load was 38gr, my top load was 48gr. No pressure signs, or hard extraction in my gun, your mileage may vary.
