Maybe someone can answer this one: Looking at holsters, it seems that revolver holsters have the muzzle ( bottom ) end closed ( as stitched all the way around ), and automatic holsters are open at the muzzle. Why is this, or is it just me ? This has puzzled me for the longest time. I have nothing else to worry about! Thanks for any help Reloaderman Shovel ready..... but hangin' on

I don't usually stitch a plug into the holsters I make. The plug is useful in keeping dirt from entering the bottom of the holster when one is sitting on the ground. Some makers punch a hole to allow water to drain through the holster. Hope this helps. If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. Reloaderman, I think it has to do with what the type of application you are using for that type of pistol. All of my 44 Mag holsters are closed, while my Semi's, 45ACP and 9mm are open. 44 Mag is mainly a hunting round and the other 2 are defensive. Makes sense to have the hunting type caliber holsters closed to keep out mud, etc. really no need for defensive to be protected from mud. But there are many who hunt with Semi's, such as Desert Eagle in 44 or 50 AE. I have really liked having my Uncle Mike closed holster on my deer lease as we have a bunch of mud on my lease(river bottom). Good Shooting. The things you see when you don't have a gun. Galco Phoenix for me, preferred in a cross-draw position. Open front and very, very comfortable. Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!
