Favorite hunting handgun?

I too play out past 200 yards with my .475. Not that unusual, really. The drop at those ranges is very predictable and consistent.

That said, I am really warming up to my BFR in .500 JRH!

Did you buy Jacks custom BFR, prior to the hunt???

Nope, got my BFR directly from Magnum Research. Do you get American Hunter?

Nope. That gun was featured in the Feb issue.

Yup. It's one strong revolver.

Did this change?

Last time this came up, IIRC, it was the cylinder was 17-4, and the frame 17-6.

If it's all 17-4, and is half the price of an FA...

I've always wanted to buy one. Only one I found around here was 1000 for a used BFR .475 Linebaugh.

Seems I always end up with an FA cheap, and then convert it.

Based on the title of this thread, did anyone mention a 45ACP?

Don't know the composition of the older BFRs, but they are made entirely of 17-4 now (save for the barrels). You know, the MSRP is right around $1,000 -- don't know why you can't find 'em cheaper and a lot cheaper used.

My favorite is probably my Contender with the .22 LR barrel on it and a 2x Simmons scope on top. I've taken hundreds of coons, squirrels, rabbits, and groundhogs with it. It's as accurate as any of my .22 rifles.
